headpiece done!

I'm a crazy person. After 3 days of planning and work, here's what I came up with. I could potentially tweak it more... but I need to see it with my dress first (which is at the seamstress)...

Honeymoon!

Well, folks, it's booked!

After much debating about where to go, Jason and I have settled on Avon, Hatteras Island, North Carolina, on the lovely Outer Banks. We found the perfect place for us, and we're super psyched. Here's the digs: MOON DUNE

Jason and I originally had really wanted to go abroad, to Italy or the South of France. However, with Jason's graduation date being fairly up in the air, and our money situation right now being less than ideal, we decided to go some place on the mainland. In addition, I am planning to be super exhausted from the wedding, and let's face it, I kind of just wanted to go someplace beautiful where I could truly relax. Anyone who's ever gone on a trip with me can tell you that I'm the type of person who wants to get up at 7 am and hit the ground running. If we had gone abroad, there would have been no relaxation.

We're really excited about the kitchen, deck, and MASTER SUITE at Moon Dune. The furnishings, though a little kitschy, really sold us. I think Jason and I will have a great time on the beach and just bummin' it around this great house. And, we won't be breaking the bank!

Updates

So I am the lamest of all bloggers... I am so bad at this, I am not sure why I try.

That said, I'm finally hitting that mode of holy cow, it's June! I have so much to do!! This week is dedicated to getting off of my lazy unemployed butt and getting some of these things done.

First things first though, I want to give a shout out to the girls over at Joielle (www.shopjoielle.com). They are really the first of their kind-- a completely online bridesmaid and mother of the bride dress shop. They carry great lines that are AFFORDABLE and CUTE... even some of the dresses from the new Cynthia Rowley line. My mom got her MOB dress there, and was really pleased with the customer service.  Please tell your friends about them!

On the list for today:
-Try to make a decision regarding our guitarist for the ceremony
-finish making my table overlays (a great way to save $$ on fancy table cloths!)
-look for fabric for our favors that I have also volunteered myself to make.......
-start thinking about making that headpiece and veil........

Bridesmaid dress, the final selection

After much hoopla (on my part) about the bridesmaid dresses, I've decided to select one dress. I came down to the complication of making sure that either the dresses were divided evenly, or one person didn't choose a strapless while the others chose a v-neck. Inevitably, one dress promised to work for everyone, so I decided to make all of our lives easier by picking one dress... I picked the Sophia, from J Crew:

All in all, I'm really happy with this dress. I love the color, and I think the style of the dress is classic and simple, and hopefully, the girls will be able to wear it again.

In other news, we leave on Wednesday for our big trip... look out wedding vendors, here we come!
